Saturday: 9 am 2 hour test.

Matt went home this weekend; he comes back tomorrow and I will be so glad to see him. I miss him!! It's weird being in this apartment all by myself.

And they keep coming...

Mom left today. Only stayed a day but that was good. I still have 11 papers to grade for my Thursday class. I receive 16 more tomorrow and 11 more on Thursday. They just keep coming. My test on Friday was not bad, but was rushed. 8 problems in 50 minutes, where each problem took our class an average of 7 minutes. So, that gave us time for only 7 of the 8 problems. I had 5 minutes left on the test with the last problem to complete. We have new prof on Monday. We hear he is funny but does not teach very well, so we will end up having to teach ourselves. We still have other prof for our other class. He is generally concerned about our grades and asked everyone's opinion about the test. Really nice guy. Rides go-carts and has a Porche. Not bad, but he is the editior of JACS. He edited my paper and accepted it. Pretty cool. I am sitting in his lab until I can move to my own lab group in December.
Presentation tomorrow too.
Back to grading.

Drawing Mechanisms and Cleaning

What a combination. I have a midterm tomorrow on mechanisms, so I am drawing a bunch of chemical structures and pushing arrows, as we like to call it. I hope I do well. My mother is coming Saturday so I have to clean tomorrow and grade 41 lab reports sometime this weekend. I just hope it gets done, so my students do not complain. Oh well, short update because I have so much going on.

Web Page Update

I have completed more in my web page.

Sunday, October 10, 2004

Hope for the best!!!

Group Research News: A drug developed by our group is in Clinical Phase 3 Trials right now. To find out more, check out the Pharmacyclics website, the company founded by my boss. The drug targets Brain tumor cancer cells.

GRRR

I wish people would stop calling Matthew when they have a party and remind him that he is not there. He hates it and IT MAKES ME SO MAD. Because, I know all of you just LOVE the fact that I took him away. He did not HAVE TO MOVE WITH ME!!! So, stop rubbing it in his face that he doesn't live in BR anymore. And please, get a life and torture someone else for a change. And don't ask why he is not there...YOU DAMN WELL KNOW WHY!!!!!!!
Jeesh!!!!

New Web Page

I have a webpage that I have to create for my Teaching class. It is still under a great deal of construction. Right now, I only have 2 sentences on the page, no color, and the sentences run together. Over the next 3 weeks, I will be changing and modifying its look for my Nov. 12th deadline. It will mainly be personal/research oriented...and mostly professional especially becuase it is being graded on. Hope you enjoy, especially when I post up some pictures and my JACS paper.

Enjoy, later.

Yippeeeeeeeeeeee

I got a B+ on my test, which is great considering some people failed. And, I am so close to an A, but it really does not matter in grad school as long as you do not get a C. Lately, I ahve been in the library most of the day studying and doing homework. We have homework, which sucks because I think being in grad school, our grades should not matter based on homework. When do we actually have time to complete homework. I guess it is a freebie for us because Prof does not actually grade it.

Other than spending quality time in the library, which is cold (why are libraries always cold?), I have bee nteaching and grading papers. Tomorrow, I get 2 sets of lab reports from one class. On Monday I get 2 sets of lab reports and 1 set from my Thursday class next week, meaning I have to grade 3 sets of lab reports the weekend my mother comes. Why does she have to come the day after a test and on the worst weekend? And, she is only coming for one night and two days, driving up from Beaumont on Saturday monring. Not to mention that Ihave Saturday class that weekend.

I finally got a doctor's appointment---in 3 weeks on a Friday afternoon (I have to miss group meeting and Seminar) and it is also the day before a Saturday test. I hate that!

Well, I'm off to bed, because I have a non-stop no-break day tomorrow.

End of a LOOONG week, start of another one

OH well. Monday and Thursday I had to teach lab, as every week. My kids were very good this week and will hopefully be this week. They did not add to my already stressful week due to my test that I had on Saturday. The worst aspect of Physical Organic is taking tests for three hours on Saturday morning. First of all, it is early for the weekend, and secondly...prof makes the test so damn hard. He even told us on Thursday that we would not finish the test because he made it long. The test is ridiculously hard. Last years test curves: 60% is and A, 50% is a B. Prof. does this deliberately to see how our minds work. But, since the object is not to fail us (because a C is death in Grad School), he has to curve. I'm just glad it is over with, and so is the LSU game. Stupid pounding by GA.
Matthew is grabbing my boobs while I type this. Very thoughtful. A couple of my friends came over to watch the game and have pizza and beer. It was nice to open the sliding doors and let the cool breeze float through. Oh well, I just finsihed grading lab reports and they were actually better than last report. The average was the same, but I see some improvement in some student's lab report writing abilities. I must go now, as my grammy is talking my ear off. And I need to take a bath. Now Brady (the white fluffy gay cat) is meaowing at me to feed him his special "make me fat" food. I am not supposed to give it to him, but he still whins at me for it. Good night!
